On August 13, a delegation of four from Consulate General of France in Shenyang attended the International Symposium on Gender Equality in Employment held by Jilin Women’s Federation, including Ms.An Lan, Consul General of France in Shenyang, and Ms. Zhao Meilin, Consul for Cultural and Educational Cooperation. Experts and scholars in the field of women’s studies from Jilin Women’s Federation, Jilin University, Northeast Normal University, Changchun University of Science and Technology as well as staff from Department of Human Resources and Social Security of Jilin Province participated.
The symposium was presided over by Li Xiaoying, President of Women’s Federation of Jilin Province. On behalf of the Women’s Federation of Jilin Province, Li Xiaoying extended her sincere welcome to the delegation of Consulate General of France in Shenyang. Xu Guilan, vice President of Women’s Federation of Jilin Province made remarks on “Functions of Women’s Federation to promote gender equality in employment”; Professor Li Hongxiang from Jilin University School of Law gave a speech on “Protecting women’s right of employment in accordance with the law”; Professor Wang Jing from Marxism Department of Northeast Normal University made a speech on “promoting the development of occupational equality between male and female”; Professor Zhang Su from School of Economics and Management of Changchun University of Science and Technology reported on “new era of gender equality in the context of artificial intelligence”, Li Shiyu from Department of Human Resources and Social Security of Jilin Province expressed opinions on “promoting employment and protecting legitimate rights and interests of female employees”.
The speakers reached an agreement at the symposium that gender equality and women’s development are the great goal pursued by human society, the important benchmark for social civilization, and the basic objective of sustainable development. The symposium offers opportunities to exchange experiences of gender equality in employment, enlighten methods of work, and provide guideline for practice as well.
